What it does

HA can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it one of the most effective hydrating ingredients available. Different molecular weights penetrate to different skin depths — high molecular weight HA sits on the surface and reduces TEWL, while low molecular weight HA penetrates further for deeper plumping. Many K-beauty formulations use multiple molecular weights simultaneously for layered hydration. Results are visible within hours of application rather than weeks.

How to use it

Apply to damp skin immediately after cleansing or toning — HA draws moisture from whatever is available, so applying to dry skin in a dry climate can actually pull moisture out of the skin. Pat rather than rub. Layer a moisturiser or facial oil on top to seal the hydration in.

Who is it suitable for?

All skin types. Particularly beneficial for dehydrated, dry, and combination skin. Suitable during pregnancy.
