About SkinRevu

Skin.Revu

Honest K-beauty and J-beauty reviews, personally tested on combination skin. Ingredient-led analysis, honest ratings, and no sponsored opinions.

Who's behind SkinRevu?

I'm Slav, a skincare enthusiast and reviewer based in the United Kingdom. SkinRevu was built out of frustration with the state of online skincare content — an excess of vague, incentivised reviews that prioritise engagement over accuracy, and a shortage of analysis that actually helps combination skin types make informed purchasing decisions.

I've been researching and testing K-beauty and J-beauty products for two to three years, with a focus on understanding the science behind formulations rather than simply reporting first impressions. Korean and Japanese skincare stands out for its ingredient transparency, layered formulation philosophy, and the clinical rigour increasingly applied to actives — qualities that make it worth examining properly.

My skin type is combination — an oily T-zone with drier cheek areas — which places me in one of the most common and least well-served skin categories in mainstream skincare content. The majority of reviews are written for either oily or dry skin. SkinRevu is specifically calibrated for the combination skin experience.

How I review products

Every product reviewed on SkinRevu has been personally purchased and tested. Products are used consistently for a minimum of four weeks before a review is published — the timeframe necessary to assess real performance rather than initial skin response, which is frequently misleading.

Each review analyses three dimensions: formulation (what the key actives are, what concentrations are likely present, and what the evidence supports), skin performance (measurable or perceptible changes observed during the testing period), and value (whether the price is justified by the formulation quality and results). The repurchase verdict is a binary judgement based on whether I would spend my own money on the product again — the most honest metric available.

SkinRevu does not accept products for review in exchange for positive coverage. If a product is received as a gift or PR sample, this is disclosed clearly in the relevant review. Affiliate links are used on the site — full details are in the Affiliate Disclosure.
